EEoS Lab researchers Ellie Laetz, Laia Burgues Palau, Bianca Parodi and Leti de Bonilla Cosculluela are back from a 5-week expedition to Curacao, a small island country in the Southern Caribbean Sea off the coast of Venezuela. We collected data for five (!!!) projects included in our larger research themes:
-"Solar-Powered Animals in a Changing Climate",
-"How Solar-powered Slugs Retain Stolen Chloroplasts",
-"All about light..."
-"New photosymbioses" x2
We will share updates as we analyze the data in the coming months (years?).
Some highlights from our trip include:
- lots of scientific diving (75 dives amongst the four of us)
- 18+ species of sea slugs including all of the species we were trying to find for research
- a night of salsa dancing
- lots of cheese arepas and coconut batidos!
